The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles is one of the most important motor sport events in France. It is the only rally that has gained the ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management Certification). Starting this week, the Maienga agency that’s behind the organization of the rally has adopted Signsquid as their electronic signature solution for signing the contracts of all their participants and providers across the world.

In a very interesting judgement rendered in July 2012, the Court of Quebec on electronic signature.

This case started by the refusal of the court clefk to accept a legal proceeding on the basis that the proceeding was signed electronically. The clerk interpreted the applicable law saying that a legal proceeding have to be signed as original.

The two factor authentication just got better with SMS. In order to make the electronic signature easier without compromising the legality and the two factor authentication we’ve recently rolled out the ability to send the unique signatories’ codes by SMS.

On May 24th 2012, the Michigan Supreme Court (USA) approved a rule change that allows the use of electronic signatures for any document filed in the state court system, including any signature required by a law or court rule to be notarized or made under oath.

We’ve recently been interviewed by the great people from Doeswhat.com.  In addition to the attention it brought to our team and our product, the experience was very comforting and positive. When going through a startup project like Signsquid, the team works hard and we often go through an intensive and compressed personal learning process. The Doeswhat interview, made us take a break, analyse and reflect on the path and evolution of the team, the product and especially on a personal level. 

On May 11th to 13th 2012 will be held the biannual Avrio Advocati legal conference in Malta, a small island in the Mediteranean sea. At this conference, around 60 law firms from around the world will gather to discuss the latest topics interesting the legal community.

Having larger companies through our customers, we’ve been often asked for the ability to have sub-accounts. The account owners want to be able to add, activate and deactivate access to users and members, who can sign documents on behalf of the organisation that owns the main Signsquid account. The added account users can use the Signsquid electronic signature and have access to their own documents only.

This feature makes a lot of sense, and we’ve recently added it to allow our clients to add users to their accounts. 

Signsquid is the only solution that offers a two-factor authentication process: one by email and the other by phone. The goal, of course, being to ensure the legality of every document and contract signed by Signsquid.

If the contract is simply sent by email, the “signature” is legally weak and the act of signing can easily be accomplished by anybody having access to the email inbox. Think of your Gmail or your outlook that is constantly left open and connected without the need to enter the password every time you want to check your emails!

We’re a team of pleasant French-speaking geeks and a lawyer from Canada. We’ve developed a cool and legal way to sign your contracts and your documents online. Instead of mimicking the hand-written signature with a mouse, we’ve ditched the mouse signing handwriting simulation and replaced it by a simple, brilliant and legal process!

We got together because we thought that in 2011, there should be a more intelligent and pleasant way to sign documents, contracts and NDAs and any legal document you can think of instead of having to scan, fax and print it!
